As I have been thinking about my last post, I decided I wanted to write about how trends in memory keeping have changed. I have found that my scrapbooking, journaling, and photography styles have evolved over the years and I like how they have come together for me right now.

I started scrapbooking with Creative Memories supplies in 1994, and these zoo layouts were some of my first pages. While I have plenty of new pages to be working on, I decided it would be nice to redo these layouts to reflect a more modern memory-keeping style.

I loved doing my February roundup layouts, even though it wasn’t the most exciting month. I spent most of my time in recovery mode after my prolapse repair surgery. It was the perfect excuse to watch a lot of TV, so that was a big part of our memories this month.

When we document our lives, we usually focus on the people we were with or the event itself. But the weather is often part of the memory too, even if we do not realize it at the time.

Think about how often you remember a day by how it felt outside. The rain that kept everyone indoors. The stifling heat, or he snow that changed your plans. Weather has a way of shaping the mood of a day, and that mood becomes part of the story.

I wasn’t sure how to tackle my January roundup layouts, because we had a pretty uneventful month, and a lot of what did happen, wasn’t anything that I wanted to publicly blog about. I know a lot of you can relate to this, so I hope it’s helpful to see how I approached it.

I love it when I finally get the chance to scrapbook with one of my new collections. I always visualize layouts when I’m creating papers, cards, and templates and it’s fun to see it all come together with my own photographs.
